The smartEn Map is smartEn’s market intelligence flagship publication. On a yearly basis smartEn analyses the participation of demand-side flexibility (DSF) in different schemes.
Objective and Methodology
The 2024 smartEn Map will provide a detailed picture of DER’s access to wholesale markets. The Map will analyse the actions taken by European countries, their features and effectiveness, to allow explicit trading of Demand Response (DR) from DERs into intraday and day-ahead markets. The aim is to highlight best practices, give recommendations to laggards and to the European Commission as guidance to support Member States (MS) or for future revisions of legislation. Following a detailed scale, taking into account numerous metrics, European countries will be graded. The analysed countries will be included in a map based on the scoring they received for each metric and for the combined overall scoring.
