Integrated Network for data Space and Interoperable Energy Management in Europe
Description
INSIEME aims to deploy a Common European Energy Data Space (CEEDS) to facilitate data sharing, interoperability, and innovation in the energy sector. The project will build on previous initiatives like the Energy Data Space Cluster and establish a federated architecture to connect existing data exchange platforms across Europe.
The versatile consortium brings together over 50 partners, from major European companies and institutions to innovative startups and SMEs. It includes technology providers, data space operators, distribution and transmission system operators, energy community platforms, AI specialists, and EU associations. Together, the INSIEME partners will execute 14 pan‑European deployments, spanning software and hardware development, integration, and active stakeholder engagement at local, regional, national, and EU levels.
The primary goals are to establish standardized data exchange and security protocols, enable cloud-to-edge connectivity, and design governance frameworks and business models for secure, trusted data sharing. INSIEME will implement the core CEEDS components and deploy them in pilot projects and use cases across at least 16 EU countries, addressing energy efficiency, flexibility management, collective self-consumption, grid services, electromobility, renewable integration, and sector coupling.
Through field tests, standards development, and stakeholder engagement, INSIEME aims to provide a secure, interoperable, and financially sustainable data space that accelerates the clean energy transition by enabling innovative energy services and empowering consumers across borders.
This work has been co-funded by the European Union’s Digital Europe Programme under grant agreement No. 101194952.
SmartEn contributions
To align the CEEDS with the actual interests and needs of its users and to guarantee a good flow of information smartEn will organize online workshops every 2 months to involve within the project externals industrials stakeholders by presenting them the project progress and asking their feedbacks.

External Industrial Stakeholders Roundtables
As part of the Project INSIEME, smartEn is organising industrial stakeholders roundtables to support the design of a Common European Energy Data Space (CEEDS) and bring together stakeholders from across Europe to share insights, perspectives, and recommendations.
Under the theme “Interoperability in front of the meter: a priority focus to enable harmonised flexibility markets across Europe”, the second Industrial Stakeholder Roundtable explored interoperability challenges and opportunities across system and market actors, including aggregators and digital platform operators.
