The Smart Energy Demand Coalition (SEDC) is happy to announce its newly published report “Mapping Demand Response in Europe Today”.
The European Commission has voiced its strong support for Demand Response within the Energy Efficiency Directive (EED). Article 15.8 of the EED outlined clear and specific requirements for Member States. The article requires national regulators and TSOs to allow consumer access to markets through Demand Response programs, to enable the participation of service providers such as aggregators and to enable and encourage program development.
This report maps the progress of Member States in meeting the requirements of Article 15.8. It reviews the regulatory structures of 15 countries: 13 EU Member States, plus Norway and Switzerland. It then provides overarching guidelines and technical information on how consumer oriented Demand Response can be enabled, in order to further support these efforts.
