Open Letter | Support for the introduction of Dynamic Locational Network Tariffs in Germany (Festlegungsverfahren AgNes)

Following the Accelerate EU Communication’s announcement of a forthcoming legislative proposal on dynamic network prices, smartEn has written to decision-makers at both EU and national levels on a question that is central to the energy transition: how to operate distribution grids far more efficiently.

The two letters share a goal but make different asks, tailored to each recipient’s role.

In the case of Germany’s Federal Network Agency (BNetzA), smartEn backs the proposed introduction of dynamic locational network tariffs and calls for greater ambition: an accelerated rollout targeting 2029.

Done right, this could become a landmark reform: proof that consumer flexibility can support the grid while creating real value for consumers and reducing costs.
