The EU climate neutrality ambition will only be realised if innovation, entrepreneurship, and high-impact technology deployment are placed at the heart of its industrial strategy. This requires more than a vision and it demands deliberate policy choices that empower those capable of delivering systemic value. Startups and scaleups in the Flexible Demand Management Industry (FDMI) are such actors – who merge clean energy ambition and digitally-enabled technological innovation. This paper submits strategic priorities, each addressing a critical bottleneck in Europe’s current clean tech growth trajectory.
