Digital Event | The smartEn Map Resource Adequacy Mechanisms 2021 Presentation

25 January 2022 | 11.00-12.10 CET | Register now!

The purpose of The smartEn Map series is to understand how the current electricity system encourages or hampers the development of flexibility services and the integration of digitally enabled and decentralised energy resources in the grid. It serves as a tool for both newcomers wishing to gain an overview and for policy-makers and experts as a go-to source for specific, aggregated data, based on sound research.

In 2021 The smartEn Map focuses on Resource Adequacy Mechanisms as set up in 14 European countries. We analyse different types of programmes, including, capacity mechanisms of different types, interruptible loads and reliability options. Always with the perspective on how demand-side flexibility (DSF) and distributed energy resources (DERs) can participate in these programmes.

To better understand the different security of supply measures used, we provide an overview of all the different programmes used in different Member States, and analyse their technical requirements and the technologies effectively participating in them.

The objective is to provide an overview of which countries are more advanced in facilitating the participation of DSF in their security of supply measures, and in this way be able to provide best practice cases to help set up favourable framework conditions in other European countries.
