We are recruiting a Senior Communications and Events Manager

Are you motivated to play an active part in Europe’s clean energy transition? smartEn is recruiting a Senior Communications and Events Manager.

smartEn is the European business association integrating the consumer-driven solutions of the clean energy transition to unleash their demand-side flexibility. Our 100+ members create opportunities for every home, car and business to support a reliable and decarbonised EU energy system.

You will be part of a dynamic, professional international team in the EU area in Brussels. You will lead an innovative approach to communication and events outreach to ensure smart visibility to both our sector and smartEn itself.

 

Main responsibilities

  • Strategically conceptualise, propose and realise innovative communication campaigns and a broad spectrum of onsite and online events, covering both external and internal outreach
  • Regularly align with other smartEn workstream managers on policy, research and EU projects to support external outreach
  • Lead a team of 2 professional and fully dedicated officers supporting on both communication and events. Regularly report to the Executive Director
  • Engage and coordinate smartEn members on dedicated initiatives by making optimal use of the Communication Task Force
  • Develop engaging and informative content (press releases, articles, blogposts, invitations, etc.) that educates and inspires our internal and external audiences
  • Strategically coordinate outsourced deliverables to external agencies and professionals
  • Cooperate with aligned partners and shape joint initiatives
  • Strengthen outreach with media and press, both at EU and national level
  • Oversee budget spending in line with available resources

 

Desired skills and experience

  • Interest in playing an active part in the clean energy transition
  • University studies in communications, marketing or other relevant disciplines
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience including management of team members and available resources
  • Proven network of relevant stakeholders and media
  • Strong organisational skills, autonomous and reliable, curious and creative mindset, flexible and cooperative team player
  • Attention to detail, ability to pre-empt challenges
  • Fluency in written and spoken English, conversational French and knowledge of an additional European language
  • European citizenship/EU working permit

Your core tasks will involve supporting the research activities of the association. You will be part of a dynamic international team in the EU area in Brussels and you will work in strong cooperation with our Projects and Research colleagues.   Main responsibilities: Conducting primary and secondary market research and analysis in the scope of smartEn’s publications (The smartEn Map, smartEn Spotlights, etc.) Collecting, analysing and reporting on survey results Derive forecasts and recommendations based on the market research Drafting of reports and papers Supporting smartEn team with market intelligence to develop positions Interaction with the smartEn membership and its working groups Desired skills and experience: A university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in European studies, law, energy economics, engineering, or similar At least one year of relevant professional experience in research activities A good understanding of the energy sector, electricity markets and the role of active consumers in Europe is indispensable Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise time-sensitive assignments and effectively prioritise workload Analytical, curious, pragmatic, and flexible attitude Proactive approach to research and networking Proven track-record in writing of reports and publications Fluency in written and spoken English are indispensable, other European languages are an asset European citizenship/EU working permit is necessary What we offer: A meaningful job in a dynamic and innovative organisation A motivated and cooperative team, interaction with an engaged membership Room for creativity and initiative A full-time contract with possibility of growth   Application Information If you are inspired by the position, please apply with a CV, motivation letter including your salary expectations in gross annual terms (13,92 months), and one writing example of a publication or essay you played an active role in to andres.pintobello@smarten.eu.   • smartEn together with 6 stakeholder organizations and drafting committee members, welcome the new network code proposed by ENTSO-E and the EU DSO Entity. This code is essential for supporting decarbonization and enhancing Europe’s energy security by enabling distributed energy resources (DERs) and demand response. The new code aims to remove the market access barriers, ensuring broad market participation and facilitating market-based procurement of flexibility services. We thank all involved in drafting this proposal and emphasize the need for effective, harmonized, and forward-looking regulations to promote a secure, efficient, and decentralized energy system.
