Active Industry Committee
The Active Industry Committee focuses on addressing the unique needs of various industries, particularly those that are energy-intensive, to help them become active in the clean energy transition. This includes leveraging their flexibility and enabling their participation in markets and mechanisms on a market-based basis. The Committee also seeks to enhance the recognition and support for the Flexible Demand Management Industry, which smartEn represents, as an essential sector within the EU’s clean tech industry. The Committee monitors and contributes to key EU legislative initiatives expected in the coming years to strengthen Europe’s industrial competitiveness.

Active Buildings & Neighborhoods Committee
The Active Buildings & Neighbourhoods Committee works to transform buildings and neighbourhoods into active participants in the energy transition. It advocates for the recognition of flexible, energy-efficient buildings within the EU’s energy policy framework, including through a fit-for-purpose regulatory framework for smart-ready building renovations and newbuilds, efforts to enhance the measurement and certification of flexibility in buildings, enhanced consumer information, and streamlined administrative processes and tools. The Committee aims to ensure that buildings and neighbourhoods are equipped to play a central role in Europe’s clean energy future, while enabling cost savings for building owners and enhancing the comfort of EU citizens living and working in them.

Our Ambassadors
Launched in 2025, the Ambassador programme recognises individuals from the smartEn membership who go the extra mile to strengthen the visibility of smartEn and promote the value of demand-side flexibility across Europe. Through activities ranging from engagement with national lawmakers, to active participation in smartEn events, to helping amplify our messages, these four members truly stood out. Thank you to all who participated this year — your engagement drives our mission forward.
